Islamabad Police Cancel PTI Rally Permit: Political Standoff Escalates

On Friday night, Islamabad's Capital Territory police announced the cancellation of a political rally permit scheduled for July 6, sparking a heated standoff with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The rally, set to be held in Tarnol, faced administrative hurdles over the issuance of a no-objection certificate (NOC). Despite this setback, PTI leaders remained steadfast, asserting their intent to proceed with what they described as a record-breaking public gathering.

Amid accusations of administrative delays and alleged interference, PTI leaders criticized the cancellation and vowed to rally their supporters regardless of formal permissions. They took to social media to mobilize public support, emphasizing their right to assemble peacefully under the slogan 'Qaidi 804 ka Nara, Azadi Haq Hamara'.

Tensions escalated when the Islamabad police reportedly arrested PTI's Islamabad region president, Amir Mughal, adding to the contentious atmosphere surrounding the planned event. In response, PTI continued to rally its base online, condemning what they called misuse of police authority to disrupt their preparations.

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub, condemned the cancellation as unjust and driven by fear, promising legal action against authorities attempting to block the rally. He reiterated PTI's commitment to uphold their democratic right to assemble and express their views.

As the standoff continues, both PTI and Islamabad authorities are preparing for potential legal confrontations, underscoring the volatile nature of political demonstrations in the region.
